The BEST just keep getting BETTER!
Looking back over past posts (as you do) the meteoric success and growth of WMBC is there in black and white, from humble beginnings to today! What a roller coaster, but what a huge success, what an amazing journey. All down to one factor, our members. Your commitment, enthusiasm and passion for your hobby and your club, the driving force behind WMBC. I thank you all for all you do to make YOUR club the BEST!
Nowhere was this more visible than at the inaugural event at Arrow Valley Visitors Centre on Sunday 1st September! An outstanding display both on and off the amazing water. 26 Acres of stunning water set in gorgeous surroundings, a boat house (with power), a proper slipway, toilets, hard standing and an excellent cafe, all on the edge of the water, (right where we were launching) fantastic! Everyone able to get waterside and launch in complete safety. Adding this facility to the arsenal of waters already available to WMBC, gives us the ability to increase our membership even further and provide our members with even more excellent facilities.
Our amazing events team were on hand early to setup for the day, these guys and gals the unsung hero's of WMBC, just getting on with it, always willing, happy and enthusiastic. Soon gazebo's and tables were erected, banner and flags flying, sun shining. A start to what turned out to be an amazing day.
The WMBC team did their club proud, soon an amazing flotilla of vessels were soon on display, looking fantastic (as always) young and old members taking part in something special. We had everything on display from an RC crocodile to a hovercraft, and everything in between.
We had a lot of publicity before the event, which meant we had a visit from a number of dignitaries representing the council and the borough of Redditch this included the Mayor who most graciously offered to open the event officially. Thanks to Sarah for some ribbon and Louisa for a pair of scissors, we pulled it off. The Mayor gave a speech welcoming us to Arrow Valley cut the ribbon to rapturous applause then proceeded to have the inaugural sail. The Mayor certainly took to the controls with ease and was soon joined by the rest of team WMBC keen to sample the water.
Thus followed a jam packed day of boating, the water was buzzing with activity, think the sailing team sailed non stop for 6 hrs! We even took on some of the yacht clubs pro's and showed them how it was done. We had so much interest and positive comments in what we were doing, so many families coming along to see our display and watch us sail, it was fantastic to see the park and facilities being enjoyed so passionately. We had a large number of prospective membership inquiries and Sarah was kept busy answering questions about the club, its ethos and how to go about joining. We look forward to welcoming you all into the WMBC family.
The event was due to run until 3pm but with so much interest and positive feedback we were still on site at 5pm! Team WMBC soon had the stand packed up and area cleared. We were then treated to a Demo of Ash's new toy a scratch built scale replica of 'The War Rig' from the film Mad Max Fury Road, what an amazing build!
Plenty of pictures added to the Event Gallery on the website.
Big smiles and happy faces at the end of another hugely successful WMBC event!
Thoughts now move to Warwick International Boat Show, where we have top spot (first stand inside the door). The event team never sit still, ideas a plenty. Following such a monumentally successful 2019 show season, I for one can't wait to see the icing on the cake!
Huge WELL DONE #teamWMBC
Simply the best, just keep getting better!
