What a response to the recent event at Arrow Valley Redditch, Sarah deluged with membership inquiries, Alex buried in media statements. (keep them busy, I say) Some amazing publicity in the local, and not so local media: https://www.redditchbc.gov.uk/news/2019/ahoy-redditch!-model-boat-club-returns.aspx
We believe that the article will be published in this weeks press, So keep an eye out. You can find it online such as: https://www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/regional/17877252.model-boats-return-arrow-valley-lake/
Once again thank you to everyone who took part.
This week the majority of team WMBC were back home at Cob House. Dean Johnson reports good conditions and that the new Club 500's are starting to appear, the racing is already underway! Phil and Colin having a shake down true WMBC style, and causing some waves at Cob House.
A number of our members were AWOL this week attending the retro truck show at the British Motor Museum. Some amazing pictures from the event and I hear VERY BIG plans for the future and 2020.
Thoughts now move to this coming Sunday's (15th) 'BRING and BUY' event at Cob House, chance to clear out those items your just never going to get round too, plus bag a winter project or bargain. I'm aware a number of vessels are coming up for sale plus numerous parts, so something for everyone. So bring your pennies!
The batteries (12v 2200mah rechargable packs) suitable for the club 500's (and as tested at Chateau) will be coming up for sale, these have many applications for us modelers due to their size and output. All proceeds from the sale of the batteries will be going to charity as these were donated to the club, so please be generous.
In other news preparation are well underway for our great friends and fellow shipmates at Bournville and their superb illuminated regatta on the 28th September (Saturday) which we have been invited to attend. We hear plenty of lights are being planned, looking forward to a great turnout and some good sailing.
Finally, (your all saying thank goodness) we are looking for boats for Warwick 2019 (International Model Boat Show), If you would like to display and can give up sometime to 'man' the stand over the 2 days (9th Saturday and 10th Sunday November 2019) speak to one of the event team. Numerous members have already come forward, if you would like to secure a spot please let us know. We have secured what many in the model boating world regard as the 'top spot' at the event.
Last year we set the bar very very high for ourselves with one amazing display, we surprised a few people by our commitment, enthusiasm and boats (including the organisers) . I know as in everything WMBC do we can do even better this year. Some outstanding models are being put forward, and some amazing plans under development. Watch this space..............
